Regulatory Framework for the Provision of Pensions Products

27th October 2016

The Commission today publishes a Discussion Paper ('DP') outlining a potential approach for modernising the supervisory framework for the provision of private pensions. This follows discussions with the States of Guernsey

The DP has been developed with the input of a working group comprising representatives from stakeholders across the public and private sectors in particular members of both the Guernsey Association of Pension Providers and the Guernsey Association of Trustees.

It is generally recognised that a modern supervisory framework for the provision of private pensions would better serve the goals of investor protection and market competitiveness thereby enhancing the reputation of the Bailiwick.

The Commission is seeking to generate discussion and debate on this very important area and welcomes feedback. A series of presentations and/or workshops will be arranged towards the end of November subject to demand.
